Year 8's starting highschool

You may not know a lot of people when you start high school. Your friends from intermediate might be going to a different high school. Even if you know other people there, you might feel nervous that you don't know any people older than you. You could be thinking how are you going to make friends among all these people?

Most high schools hold an orientation before school actually starts. These are helpful because you learn your way around the building and get to meet some of your teachers, but you also get to meet older people that go there. So when you show up on your first day of school, you could already know some people.

When you talk to people at orientation, you'll probably find that heaps of them are feeling like you are. They're all new to the school and don't know what to expect. Talking to them and introducing your-self can make new friendships.

Diwali

Diwali is known as the "festival of lights," is a festival celebrated between mid-October and mid-November for different reasons. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC. Diwali is an official holiday in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore, and Fiji. The name "Diwali" translates into "row of lamps". Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (diyas) filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the night and one's house is cleaned, both done in order to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome. Firecrackers are burst in order to drive away evil spirits. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.

Changes at school

At school, in year 9, we have to learn subjects that aren’t going to help us when we get older. So that is something that I would like to change. I would cross out the subjects that aren’t going to help us and concentrate on main subjects. It will help us to improve on things we need more in life.

If we did this, I think everyone would get a good job and high salary because they know the basics of Math, English and science, instead of some language or music or dance. We could spend more time studding important thing like English and can excel in them.

In conclusion I think it would be a good thing if unnecessary subjects were taken out of school for year nines and they could be brought back in at year ten when they should know a lot more about what they want to do when they get older.
Another thing I would change in school is how long each of our periods are. I would change this because all of the class struggles to pay attention for a whole hundred minutes. It would make it easier to get through one burst of work instead of two or three tasks in one lesson. This would help the teacher and the students because the teachers would have more time to focus on one thing other than two to three and have to rush from one thing to another.

Essay on internet safety.

This essay is on my opinion about internet safety. I think that the internet can be very un-safe if you use it in the wrong way. That’s why I’m going to give tips on keeping safe.
Giving out your private password to anyone, even your best friend, is a very bad thing. It can be seen by other people when your typing or writing it to them and it can be heard when you whisper without you realizing. Also you shouldn’t give out your personal information, like your telephone number, address or where you go to school, because someone else could be using the computer at the same time. On your account you shouldn’t put up photos of yourself, relatives or of your home.
To keep real safe on the Internet, you shouldn’t go into chat rooms. Sometimes, this is where your problems begin. If you do go into chat rooms, stay away from weird people or people that cause trouble. If they ask you to meet them or ask for personal information, log off and notify your parents.
If you ever come across information that you don’t feel comfortable with, go to your parents and tell them everything that made you feel uncomfortable. Never respond to the person who is making you uncomfortable. Then log off the computer instantly. Also, if someone sends you an e-mail that is from someone you don’t know, immediately delete it. It may contain viruses.
When you are instant messaging someone or e-mailing someone, nothing is private. That means that you have to make sure that you never give your friend some information that you don’t want anyone else to have.
When soothing you don’t know about ask your parents for assistance and just log off if you are not quite sure of what to do.
Talk with your parents and set up rules for using the Internet. The time of day, the length of time and the right sites you can visit. Once these rules are prepared done, you should never break them without parent or guardian permission. You should never access things you’re not allowed.
I hope that this will help you in the future to be safe on the internet.

1st homework!

Review 2,
All Blacks vs. Japan
I think people were expecting a massive game and japan would try knock over all blacks. Personally I did think that the score would be further apart than this but the all blacks wanted to change their line up a little bit. The all black were on their game and I really can’t take any negatives away from the game in the performance. What surprised me was how the All Blacks played the game, they played at a high pace game like the Japanese normally do and it seemed to work. The defence was really tested on the Japan side but they never gave up and can once again take a lot of heart from the game they played. And last but not least, Sonny Bill Williams actully had a good game. OMG!!!

Great Game

1st homework!

Review 1,
Dinner for Schmucks
Dinner for Schmucks is a movie that stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. The movie is about Tim (Paul Rudd), a man who is looking to go up in the ranks in his job, but there is one thing stopping him. He has to find someone to bring to his work dinner to make fun of. Tim’s girlfriend really doesn’t want to go. So Tim has to pick his carrier or his girlfriend. What will he do? Overall I really liked watching this movie with dale and overall the movie is really funny. I rate it eight out of ten because of its great humour and great storyline.
